Some Great High Growth Research now being produced

We are now starting to see some great research around high growth business support being produced, as a follow up to NESTA’s excellent Vital 6 reports in 2009. Congratulations Experian – great work on “Tomorrow’s Champions: finding the small business engines for economic growth”, which suggests that the Midlands and the North are two incubators for future ‘champions’. This will be something that the LEPs in those regions will surely be pleased to hear, as public sector job losses will be particularly strong there. Centre for Cities “Firm Intentions: Cities, Private Sector Jobs and the Coalition” also produced an excellent report over the summer, suggesting that the emphasis on attempting to stimulate sustainable jobs growth in areas more vulnerable to public sector job cuts should be dropped. If Experian’s assertions are correct, these goals (finding high growth firms and replacing public sector job cuts in the North) are not mutually exclusive?
